Stray dog rescue with four pounds of matted Fur? The dog had a miraculous transformation. I always feel sad whenever I see stray dogs that are in terrible shape. With no humans to care for them, these dogs end up getting malnourished and sick.
A lot of these dogs also experience abuse from people, and they become defensive when people approach them.
Rescue Organization Helping Dog
Thankfully, there are quite a lot of animal rescue organizations with amazing staff and volunteers that are dedicated to rescuing animals. Animal rescue organizations work very hard to get the dogs off the street and into shelters where they can be cared for. Most animal rescue organizations also have a network of volunteers that are happy to foster dogs until they could find a forever home for each of the rescued dogs.
In Portage Park, Chicago, animal control officers found a stray dog that was in terrible shape. The dog had severely matted fur all over his body that it became so heavy that it weighed down his small body. The stray dog’s hair grew so long and unkempt that it covered his eyes and made it hard for him to see.
Thankfully, the animal control officers brought the dog to a municipal animal shelter in Chicago, where a local rescue group named Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation pulled him from the shelter and took him to the organization’s no-kill shelter. The staff and volunteers also agreed to name the dog, Parker. According to one of the rescuers, Parker’s matted fur was one of the worst he’s ever seen.
Dog Hospital Check Up
The rescuers brought Parker to a nearby animal hospital to have his health checked. And, they also brought Parker to a groomer. The tiny dog was surprisingly patient at the groomers. Parker didn’t struggle and was very happy getting all the attention from the groomer. Parker finally realized that he’s in a safe place with good people who only wants to help him.
Before Parker was groomed, he weighed 18.9-lbs. After all his matted hair was shaved off, Parker weighed 15.4-lbs. Carrying around 4-lbs of extra weight may not seem much, but for a small dog like Parker, it’s really heavy. Parker felt a lot better after he was groomed.
The rescuers were also glad that Parker didn’t have any serious health conditions. After Parker’s checkup with the vet and groomers, he was placed in a private shelter. Parker’s also learning socialization skills and other things that will get him ready for adoption. Here’s a link of the heartwarming video below the screenshots showing how Parker was rescued and his transformation after a trip to the groomers.
