Owner too afraid of her dog? A pet needs to be introduced to a lot of people for them to be properly socialized. If a doggo is kept outside the house for so long, they do not get that opportunity. Ernie is a dog who has been kept outside for too long, and his owner needs help.
Juli keeps her dog, Ernie, outside and also makes him wear a muzzle. The problem is, there is no bite history or canine aggression. Julie is only afraid of what the dog might do; that’s why she treats her pup that way.
Zoe and Jackson are there to help Juli overcome her fears for the benefit of both her and Ernie. The trainers asked Juli to open the backdoor and sit on the far end of the couch. This will allow Ernie to step inside.
Juli was very tense. If there was any tension inside the room, it wasn’t coming from Ernie. Juli’s son was also asked to play with the dog, and the trainers found no sign of dog aggressive behavior.
Zoe gave Juli some advice to follow. She has to make sure Ernie only exercise outside. Then when inside, she has to learn how to make him follow the “place” command, which Zoe demonstrates.
After a few weeks, the trainers came back to check on Juli’s progress. She was doing well with training Ernie to stay. The real challenge is if Ernie can remain disinterested when a cat is in the vicinity.
Before the cat was introduced, Juli’s son tested Ernie’s focus. He held his toy while walking in front of him. Ernie remained in his bed, and he passed the test.
Finally, the cat was introduced. Juli’s son was on the other side of the room playing with the cat. Ernie sees what’s going on but chooses to ignore it. The training was a success, and Juli is more confident than when the trainers initially met her.
