Iraq dog rescue? When we hear the word ‘war’, all we could think about is destruction. Such was how this man also thought of it until he found this pooch that’s now a permanent part of his life.

Meet Nick Pierzchalsk, a medevac pilot working for the Florida Army National Guard! In 2016, he got assigned in Iraq, and it was during his stay there that he met this feral hound that immediately befriended him and his group. He never thought he’d be part of an Iraq dog rescue.

With this pup’s charming personality, it didn’t take long before all of them got close to her. Every day, they would always look for her. Airys knew exactly how to cheer them up, and that’s why even after only a short time with them, she has significantly boosted their morale!

Soldier’s Love For Iraq Dogs

But among all soldiers who loved this girl, she was particularly fond of Nick. That’s because he always made sure she gets good sleep and meals.

Everything seemed just perfect for the two until the news about the conclusion of Nick’s mission broke! He grew very accustomed to Airys’ company that he didn’t want to consider the thought of being separated from her.

But the decision of their administration was final. It left Nick with no choice but to head back home.

However, even after three months of being back in his city, Florida, he still couldn’t get Airys out of his mind. That brought him to a decision to just ask for help to get her!

SPCA Assistance To Rescue Dog from Iraq

And with SPCA International’s assistance, Airys was transported from Iraq to the US!

While waiting for her arrival, Nick was filled with doubts. He was afraid of the possibility that Airys had already forgotten her. But when Airys reached their meeting place, it appeared that it wasn’t the case at all.

Upon setting her eyes on him, Airys went straight right to Nick and kissed him!

Now Nick has got nothing to worry about anymore. He could now ensure her safety as well as take care of her as much as he wants.

What ending could be happier than this?
