Canine Euthanasia – to save two dogs this woman intervened. For two years, there was a homeless man who owned two pit bulls. They were quite celebrity dogs in that place, but some people didn’t like to see a homeless man with dogs.

A woman filed a false report claiming that the bulldogs and terriers descendants had bitten her. As a result, the dogs were taken away and locked up because of the false accusation. Shira Scott Astrof took upon herself to save two dogs.

Just to contact the shelter that housed the dogs was a big challenge. Getting them out wasn’t an easy thing to do. Communication and reaching out was the main issue. The dogs in the facility were not allowed to play outside. They were in isolation and will only be given food and water every day. The dogs were unfairly imprisoned for almost a year.

When Shira would go to the pound, she wasn’t allowed to go inside and touch the dogs. She was only allowed to talk to them through the bars. She swore to do everything possible to get them out.

Canine Euthanasia and the Authorities

She would call the authorities almost every day regarding the case. They kept saying the case was backlogged. If she tried talking to someone else, they would have no answer regarding the case. It was a frustrating back and forth.

After 8 months, Shira got a call. She had 72 hours to get them because there were on the red list. It’s a list of dogs set for euthanasia. Shira and her friends didn’t sleep and called everyone they knew who might be able to help.

Shira found a man who was willing to take the pit bulls. Within 24 hours after the call, the dogs were out of the pound. They were so excited and full of energy. They were finally free.

After the successful event, Shira’s friend decided to join her with her rescue missions. They have now rescued more than fifteen other dogs. She believes the system should be changed and that dogs should be treated fairly.
